The art of designing incredible movie titles

Posted on by Guy Cookson

“Good title design should be evocative, it should evoke emotion from the viewer. It should refer to the story or the characters or the setting and almost incidentally introduce the titles. And it can do a lot more than that…” says possibly the greatest movie title designer of all time, Dan Perri.

Perri is hugely prolific, and created the title designs for films including Star Wars, Taxi Driver, Airplane!, The Exorcist, Raising Arizona, Raging Bull, Caddy Shack, Nightmare on Elm Street and so many others.

This video gives an insight into how he does it, and it’s fascinating.
