G.F. Smith reminds us (yet again) why we still love paper

Posted on by

Even though a large part of our business is now digital, and never really leaves the screen, at heart we are still print obsessives, and we still love beautiful tactile paper.

So, if we get the chance, we will take a trip to visit the new Show Space created by 130 year-old papermakers G. F Smith, at Eastcastle Street in central London, that showcases their products and history. As reported by It’s Nice That:

At the heart of the show space is a 14-metre collection wall presenting every paper G . F Smith has created. Downstairs in the White Space gallery a series of exhibitions will play out, ranging from “creative takeovers” by brands and designers to deeper insights into the art of paper making.

On its opening, the Show Space greets visitors with a window installation inspired by air titled Turbulence, a behind the scenes exhibition into the making of its signature Mulberry Green paper, and a gallery installation designed by London-based studio Made Thought that salutes the ocean in paper form.

G . F Smith joint managing director John Haslam says of the launch: “G . F Smith has always had the desire and ambition to inspire the creative world and Show Space is yet another landmark moment… We want to create a space that challenges, inspires and wows.” Through its curated installations and showcases and the company hopes to appeal to everyone from students to creative directors alike.
