Awards nominations for Lancaster University Christmas Message

Posted on by Charlie Haywood

Our cross-platform Christmas greeting message for Lancaster University has been nominated for a series of design awards. Amongst others Hotfoot were nominated for a prestigious Site of the Day Awwward – no mean feat as all nominations are pre-judged by a panel of five international experts. Awwwards are the awards that recognize and promote the talent and effort of the best developers, designers and web agencies in the world.

The campaign message itself looked to promote Lancaster University as a forward thinking, inquisitive, caring and culturally inclusive community who look at everything a little differently – including Christmas. To meet these objectives we used key areas of Lancaster University’s research/student environment as context for ‘questions’ surrounding the norms and ideas associated with Christmas – through illustration – which were responded to via engaging video content. All this without alienating those with no specific interest!

A ‘guiding star’ was used to help navigate the viewer from email, social media and website homepage content to the Christmas microsite and furthermore through the illustrated graphics sequences; life, the universe and everything – love and friendship – through Cumbria, Morecambe Bay and Bowland and finally to Lancaster itself.
