The challenge

In 1990, Roger Glossop and Charlotte Scott converted an old Edwardian laundry in Bowness into something truly magical. Today, The World of Beatrix Potter is one of the Lake District’s most beloved destinations – a national treasure that brings Beatrix Potter’s enchanting stories to life through immersive displays set in a vibrant recreation of the stunning Lakeland countryside.

Over time, the brand and website had lost their spark, becoming outdated and in need of a full transformation to re-energise this iconic attraction and reconnect with modern audiences.

The strategy

The team at The World of Beatrix Potter turned to Hotfoot to help bring their story to life and communicate their unique offering with more clarity, charm, and impact.

Through stakeholder engagement and a series of strategy workshops with the Beatrix Potter team, along with license holders Penguin Group, we uncovered valuable insights that deepened our understanding of the business and its unique offerings. This informed a creative design brief for a refreshed brand and a technical specification to deliver an engaging, intuitive platform that resonates with visitors and encourages bookings.

The deliverables

To bring The World of Beatrix Potter brand to life we delivered a refreshed identity, engaging website, and a wayfinding system.

Brand identities
We developed a cohesive brand identity system across their key venues to ensure consistent and effective application across all touchpoints.

Signage
We created a fully designed signage system that seamlessly integrates with the refreshed brand identity. The system includes clear, visually engaging wayfinding and informational signage to enhance the visitor experience and guide footfall to the venue spaces.

UX design and full website development
We crafted an intuitive, responsive website with a seamless user experience and ticketing integration designed to meet the needs of the audience.

Social media templates 
We designed engaging social media graphics to drive visibility, engagement, and conversions.

Print templates
We created versatile print templates and digital marketing materials to support ongoing campaigns and maintain brand consistency.
