That ambition was on full display this week when Rolls-Royce Chief Executive Tufan Erginbilgiç told the BBC that the company’s small modular reactor (SMR) business has the potential to make Rolls-Royce the UK’s highest-valued company.
The SMR programme, recently named the UK government’s preferred choice for the nation’s first small modular nuclear reactors, is expected to create thousands of jobs, power millions of homes, and – crucially – power AI data centres around the world, meeting the massive demands of next-gen tech infrastructure with reliable clean energy.
